Root Beer Floats for Two

“You know, a lot of people go to therapy to deal with stuff, but I say a good root beer float can fix just about anybody” -Peyton Sawyer

I’ve been watching One Tree Hill on Netflix lately. It’s my current binge-watch-show of choice (along with Parenthood, but I’m only allowed to watch that when my mom is around so she can watch too). It’s been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster all over again. Of course I’ve seen it all before, but I forgot how soap opera-esque this show was. It kills me. But I tend to agree with Peyton, that a good root beer float can fix just about anybody. Continue reading

Pan-Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Almonds, Apples, & Raisins

Gluten free and Paleo friendly Pan-Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Almonds, Apples, & Raisins inspired by my recent anniversary dinner sans husband. | www.VibrantLifeArmyWife.com

Is it brussel sprouts or brussels sprouts? I have no idea. Whenever I type “brussel sprouts” on my phone, which is quite often surprisingly (or not considering how tasty brussel/brussels sprouts are) autocorrect always changes it to “Brussels sprouts.” I’m going to call them brussel sprouts because that makes more sense in my brain. And it’s my recipe so I can call lit whatever I want, right? I could call it “pan-roasted little baby cabbages with some other shit in it” but I won’t since that’s a mouth full and doesn’t sound very pleasant to eat. So we will stick with pan-roasted brussel sprouts with almonds, apples, & raisins. Okay? Still a mouthful, but it makes me want a mouth full (Hehe see what I did there?). Continue reading

This recipe has been in the works for several weeks. Several sticky, tapioca flour everywhere, filled weeks.  After a few mishaps, messes and tapioca all over our kitchens, all over us and all over the dogs (yes that happened!), it is here to share with the world.  Maybe not the whole world because not that many people read our posts, but they should, obviously.  Tell your friends! Share the good times that happen here and over at A Nourished Appetite.  If anything the whole world can laugh with us….or at us.  I feel like you all may be laughing at us, but we can take it.  We are both brilliant in the kitchen and both have an amazing sense of humor so, you’re welcome.   Continue reading

Since moving back to Huntington Beach, one of my favorite places to eat is at True Food Kitchen in Newport. They use fresh, seasonal ingredients and everything I’ve eaten there has been really delicious. Plus I’ve got a few friends who work there so it’s always fun to go visit them. Continue reading
