I’ve deemed October the month of “Pumpkin All the Things” because frankly, I want to pumpkin all the things. And yes, “pumpkin” is a verb. Or at least it is now. You’re welcome. And yes, I know today is September 30th but it’s close enough.
So you can look forward to a bunch of pumpkin spice flavored recipes throughout the month of October. Or if you don’t like pumpkin, then I guess I’ll see you back in November! But seriously, you should probably stick around because I’ve got some tasty treats for you. Much tastier than those other pumpkin spice things that shall remain unnamed…
To start off I’ve got a basic recipe for you, but it is one that is going to come in handy throughout the month: Pumpkin Pie Spice. Sure you could always just use the pumpkin spice blends from the store but I prefer to make my own because it is cheaper and I can customize it to fit my tastes. For example, I’m a HUGE cinnamon fan so I like to add a little extra of that. So I suggest you try your hand at making your own blend, using mine as a jumping off point and tweaking it to fit your preferences.
- 4 Tbs cinnamon
- 1 Tbs ginger
- 1 Tbs nutmeg
- 1½ tsp allspice
- 1½ tsp cloves
- ½ tsp cardamom
- Combine ingredients in a small jar
- Stir or shake to combine
