Southern Style Braised Collard Greens

Ingredients
  • 1 pound bacon, chopped
  • 1 sweet onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 6 cups bone broth
  • 1½ pounds collard greens (about 2 bunches)
  • 2 tbs apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp coconut sugar (optional)
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper (optional)
Instructions
  1. In a large stock pot, cook bacon over medium heat until almost fully cooked
  2. Add onion and saute until translucent, about 8-10 minutes
  3. Add garlic and saute until fragrant, about another minute
  4. Stir in remaining ingredients, bring to a boil and then reduce heat to low and simmer
  5. Cook, uncovered, for about 2 hours until most of the liquid has reduced
  6. Add additional salt and pepper to taste if needed
